HIKE TO THE DEVIL'S WINDOW.

In old times everything which was dark and inaccessible was meant to be owned by the devil. That's why this small but charming waterfall became Janela do Inferno.

Hike information:

Distance: 7,6km

Duration: 2-2,5 hour

Format: Circular

Difficulty: Easy

Check alerts before you go to find out if the hike is accessible.

Literally, this is one of my favourite hikes. You walk through the tunnels which were drilled in order to build a pipe system in order to transport water from the lake. This hike is also great when the weather is not that perfect. Clear sky is not very necessary since this hike has only one panorama view at the very beginning of the trail. The more you walk, the deeper into the jungle you get.

I use to say that if you want to feel like Alice in Wonderland, this hike is meant to you. Every time when you pass one of the tunnels you seem as if you were entering a different reality – different flora, different vibe, also... different weather! Don't be surprised when after passing the tunnel suddenly it stops raining or you face a dense fog!

The hike is really easy (in rainy weather you can get a bit muddy so be prepared for that!) and the starting point, Casa da Água has spacious car park. Are you ready to go?
